Note! Mendeley automatically removes duplicates at import. Review the duplicate to validate exact duplicates and merge potential duplicates.

Reference management software help you keep track of your references and create in-text citations and a reference list in the preferred output style.


Import your references into your "library". Create folders for each source you search in and import from. Use the "Find duplicates" function to merge exact duplicates and identify potential duplicates.
 

You can screen your references in your reference management software, but the screening process is more easily documented and more reliable when you use screeningsoftware such as Rayyan or review platforms such as Covidence. Best practice is to remove duplicates in the reference manager and them import the entire library into the screening tool or review platform.
