We have selected a few introductions that we believe provide a good introduction to gender research, feminist and queer theory. Some can be borrowed by anyone with a library account in Denmark, while access to others requires a user through The Royal Library.

Introductions
 

Introducing Gender and Women's Studies

Classic introduction which has been published for 20 years. The book focuses on key issues in gender and feminist theory. The fourth edition includes chapters on theory and politics, bodies and identity, institutions, culture and context. The chapters make contemporary debates understandable with useful examples and questions.

Beyond Gender: An advanced Introduction to Futures of Feminist and Sexuality Studies

This book explores an approach to gender studies that goes beyond the traditional division into so-called waves. It emphasises the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to contemporary feminist and sexuality studies and shows how the concept of gender has been challenged and developed through theory and practice.

The Routledge International Handbook of Transdisciplinary Feminist Research and Methodological Praxis

This Handbook is organized around ways of doing fair and just research, with deliberate overlap in each of the sections so as to share and demonstrate potential opportunities for lasting alliances, ones through which we might seek justice together.

Routledge Handbook of Chicana/o Studies

Chicana/o studies is an interdisciplinary academic field that challenges and deconstructs stereotypes and illuminates the complex intersections of gender, race, class, and sexuality through the experiences of Mexican Americans. This handbook is divided into seven themes that serve as an introduction to Chicona/o studies.
