Anyone over the age of 18 who has a Danish CPR or civil registration number and permanent address in Denmark or southern Sweden may become a user of The Royal Library and Copenhagen University Library.
You can register as a library user by completing the electronic registration form New User in REX. It is important that you state your e-mail address in the form as the library only communicates by e-mail.
The library card
You use your Danish civil registration or health insurance card as your library card. Please approach us at one of the libraries the first time you borrow something from us so we may activate you as a user. Read here about loan rules and reservations
Search and order books
All materials can be searched in our online catalogue REX. Here you can also order books and renew your loans by logging into REX with your ID and password. When you order a book you specify at which Copenhagen University Library you want to pick it up. See here for an overview of collect/return addresses
You can transfer money to your print account or pay fines and fees online when you log into My account in REX. Read more about the transactions here
You can issue items yourself through our self-service machines. Here you may also return, renew and see the status of your items. If you haven’t brought your health insurance card (or your student card), you simply key in your ID manually. You also have to use your 4-digit PIN with the self-service machine.
You can return the books at any of the Copenhagen University Library faculty libraries.
